We are holding three open days in Castor Hanglands on the second Saturday of each month, 10am until 4pm on Saturday 13th July, August 10th and September 14th.
Come and see the work we do restoring the ancient Coppicing in Castor Hanglands.
We will be firing up our three kilns to make the charcoal we sell locally so find out how we make the charcoal sustainably.
We will also demonstrate some crafts – come and have a go at making some of the crafts yourself. We will demonstrate how to use a Pole lathe and Shavehorse, as well as carving and making shrink pots.
You might want to bring a packed lunch because we’re sure you’ll be staying a little longer than you initially thought!
We look forward to seeing you there – directions below:
From Peterborough via Marholm – after a mile and a half on the Stamford Road, turn left onto Helpston Road towards Ailsworth. Half a mile down the road you will see a banner and an open gate on the right. Turn on to the track through the field, take the first left after about 200 yards, then follow the track (it feels like a long way!). The track bends right, through two open gates and you will see the Car Park. Then follow the signs.
You are visiting a dark, dark wood so sensible shoes and clothes are advisable. There are no toilet facilities. We do have a kettle on the go for hot drinks. Don’t forget to bring your lunch!
Please let us know if you might be able to visit.
